Halloween is looming just around the corner, and I believe it's safe to say that Fall has officially arrived. Grocery stores are filling their pumpkin inventories, and the Mums are in full bloom. Oh yea, and all the leaves on the trees are changing colors! Below are a few recipes from my old drink blog (back when I was a bartender) perfect for your Halloween bash.
Our first cocktail, called witches brew, is made with two simple ingredients, Whiskey and Blood red orange juice. Nothing says Halloween like blood red oranges right? Or maybe just blood… mwhahaha! [evil laugh]
Brew Some:
2oz Jim Beam Red Stag Straight Kentucky Bourbon (Black Cherry is what I used but after tasting it I highly doubt you can tell the difference)
5oz Blood Red Orange Juice (That's a thing now)
Pour the whiskey into a highball glass filled with ice and add the orange juice on top. Mix well. Garnish with an orange wheel and enjoy the witches brew.
Worm Slime!
Ah. Nothing says halloween and spooky-ness like a little bit of gross worm slime. Fortunately, this drink has a slimy name, but the cocktail itself tastes delicious. Green and sweet, you need skittle infused vodka to make it work. Its super easy and very much worth the effort though.
Make it:
1.5oz Skittle infused Vodka
1oz lemon lime soda
1oz orange juice
Super wormy right? haha not really. Pour all your ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake away. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with green and orange trolly brite crawlers. nom.
Slime-tini
Slime…green…all words that remind me of scary, halloween-y, zombie things. Right? Making the slime-tini the ghoulishly perfect cocktail to serve at any Halloween party. (or zombies too!)
Recipe:
1oz Sour Apple Pucker
1oz Vodka
1oz Tripel Sec
1/2oz Grenadine for effect
Pour the vodka, sour apple and tripel sec into an ice filled cocktail shaker. Shake away! Strain into a chilled martini glass. Slowly drip grenadine along the edge of the glass for the ‘drooling blood’ effect.
Ghost-tini:
Todays cocktail comes to you in the form of Ghost – liquified to be exact. How did this happen? What does ghost taste like? Why would anyone feel the need to liquify the ghost? What else can we liquify? Well I can answer most of those questions by giving you the ingredients for this tasty little cocktail…finding other things to liquify can be left up to you.
Liquify:
1oz Vodka
1oz Vanilla Simple Syrup
1oz Cream
1oz Sprite or lemon lime soda
Mix items in a shaker filled with ice, then strain into a martini glass – enjoy your liquified ghost..
Midnight Stalker:
Midnight Stalker is made with silver rum, lemon lime soda and Malibu Black (which happens to be brown -_-) It’s a drink with a kick and a cool enough name to be served at any creepy Halloween Party. Make it a part of yours this year.
Midnight Stalker
1oz Silver Rum
Lemon Lime Soda
Float of Malibu Black
Throw your rum in a shaker with ice and crush ice with a muddler. Go crazy. Crush the hell out of that ice. It needs to be nice and crushed. Pour into a collins glass. Fill almost to the top with sprite (leave some room!) Float the Malibu Black on top. Watch it slowly drizzle down. Happy Halloween.
Candy Corn Martini:
Candy corn is one of those candies that you either love it, or really hate it. The good thing about the candy corn martini, however, is that it's a great festive drink thats mainly sweet and satisfying and not necessarily candy corn flavored. I hope you have as much fun making it as I did!
Recipe:
1 part Candy corn infused vodka
2 Parts Pineapple Juice
Candy Corn for Garnish (optional)
I say “part” because this can also be made into a delicious punch as well. For the recipe for the photo above use 1oz candy corn vodka and 2oz of pineapple juice. Throw those ingredients into a mixer and strain into a martini glass. Drop a couple pieces of candy corn in the bottom of the glass for a great garnish. If you are making the punch ( a great idea for your party) Add a 1/2 quart of orange sorbet to the mix. Happy Halloween!
Pumpkin Cocktail:
Funny thing to call this a pumpkin cocktail because although it looks like one, it has no pumpkin in it. I’m not a fan of putting pumpkin puree in any of my drinks just for the sake of making it taste pumpkin-ee. That’s what pumpkin pie is for – right? Anywho, this cocktail is adorable and very ascetically pleasing. Place it in the center of your party spread. Basically, this cocktail is an amaretto fizz with extra flair; it looks awesome! And fits into any autumn or Halloween party you may be throwing this year.
Pumpkin Cocktail Recipe
3oz Amaretto Liqueur
3oz Lemon lime soda
3oz Orange Juice
Pour all into a round rocks glass filled halfway with ice. Slice an orange the long way so it’s a round shape. Cut a slice of lime, and then cut off the rind, carefully. Bend that rind in half and place it in the center of your orange round. Gently place it into your glass on top of the ice, and there you have a beautiful pumpkin cocktail.
NOTE: If you'd like to make this a non alcoholic beverage - no need to fear! Simply omit the amaretto liqueur! Its just as tasty and perfect for the kids.
Halloween cocktails and mocktails offer a delightful way to elevate your spooky celebrations and embrace the spirit of the season. Whether you're hosting a haunted house party or simply sipping a concoction by the fire, these creative and eerie beverages add a touch of magic to the festivities. From blood-red potions to ghastly green elixirs, the possibilities are endless. So, whether you prefer the spine-tingling thrill of a spirited cocktail or the family-friendly fun of a mocktail, raise your glass to a memorable and enchanting Halloween night filled with delicious drinks and hauntingly good times. Cheers to a spine-tinglingly good Halloween!
